Antonio Ciongoli puts a new spin on soft tailoring with his Spring-Summer 2016 lineup for the label

Eidos Napoli began as the younger brother of storied Italian tailoring label Isaia (AKA the house that makes $4,000 suiting masterpieces subtly branded with coral pins). But unlike Isaia’s penchant for boldness—the kind of suits that will turn heads even in the most adventurous fashion enclaves of Italy—Eidos designer Antonio Ciongoli has focused his talents on what real, everyday men want to wear everywhere. He’s carved out his own vision for what’s become one of our favorite labels for quality menswear, albeit one with a light Neapolitan twist.

And that’s not by accident. While the world of menswear, and fashion at large, seems to be beholden to an unrelenting cycle that requires new clothes and fresh trends season after season, Antonio says he’s dedicated to not falling victim to any fad. “Look, I was a skater kid growing up, and I know that the sort of sweatpants athleisure thing is happening now. But a pair of sweatpants just isn’t us,” he says.

The latest offering from Eidos for Spring-Summer 2016 is a collection of easy-to-wear pieces with an unforgettable dose of Italian elegance in a decidedly muted palette. We’re talking navy blue unstructured sports jackets, slim-fit knits in dusty grays, and a particularly elegant pair of straight fit white pants (for those fearful of the white pant plunge, Antonio says “white pants can be worn in any way that chinos would be”). They’re the types of pieces that people (okay, us) would label as effortless, put together in looks that would make any man appear confident and elegant without calling too much attention to himself. In other words, these are clothes that may not get you ogled in the streets or in the middle of some street style photographer’s lens, but anyone who’s anyone will recognize that you’re a seriously well-dressed man with good taste.
